International holiday - World Day of the Bees - celebrated 20 May on the birthday of the founder of modern beekeeping Anton Yansha (1734-1773).

Anton Yansha was the first in the world to teach such disciplines as beekeeping at the court of Empress Maria Theresa.

He introduced beekeeping techniques and the "bee pasture" element, revised the role of drones, and described all this in two volumes, which are still an excellent guide for many beekeepers today.

Slovenia's proposal to celebrate the Day of the Bees. 20 December 2017 g. UN General Assembly “to remind the importance of pollinators, threats to their existence and their contribution to sustainable development "unanimously approved this initiative.

Dedicated to World Bee Day, released in Slovenia for its first celebration in 2018 year commemorative coin denomination 2 euro.

Honey bees play a huge role in pollination of plants and obtaining honey, beekeeping products (royal jelly, beeswax, propolis, etc.).

What farmers and government agencies can do to preserve bee colonies?

- preservation of natural habitats of bees, natural hives;

- creation of hedges;

- reducing the use of pesticides;

- planting crops that are attractive to pollinators around fields.
