The local economy (TG): Dmitriy, tell us about yourself, about his farm.
Dmitry Radyuk (DR): I am a Minsker myself. I have a passion for agriculture since childhood. As a boy, he came to the village of Sytin with his grandparents. I had my own plots, where did I like to grow cereals, millet and potatoes. My great-grandfather was a fairly large landowner and was dispossessed with the advent of Soviet power.
AT 2019 year I became a farmer with land. This year is my second sowing season.. My main area is feed production and seed production.. However, I basically do not work with chemical plant protection products and mineral fertilizers.
There are several other areas - the cultivation of various types of salads, beekeeping, pig breeding. I plan to further develop these areas.
TG: Why did you decide to farm??
DR: Farming is my calling. I'm really happy, when I manage to do what I love, despite all the difficulties, i am facing.
TG: Dmitriy, what products do you grow?
DR: I grow salads, medicinal tea (Galega East) – it can be said my social project. Decoctions and infusions of galegi have a beneficial effect on humans, diabetes patient. The unique properties of the plant can reduce the amount of sugar in the blood and improve the metabolic processes of the body.. Plant is a multi-use. The green mass, after slight drying, is well eaten by all types of animals. Galega feeds are highly nutritional.
Since the spring of this year he began to beekeeping.
Feed crops and seed production - the basis of commerce. Pig production in perspective, I'm still breeding stock.
TG: What support do you need as a farmer??
DR: Really affordable financing tools are needed for lending, leasing.
TG: Dmitriy, what would you recommend to novice farmers?
What would you like to warn those, who is only at the beginning of the journey?
If this is your calling, go and not give up. To tell, that it will be hard - to say nothing. Many will perceive you jealously, as a competitor. But there are people and they need to be looked for nearby. Look for like-minded people!
