The local economy (TG): Anastasia, Alexander, tell us about your apiary? How old have you been in beekeeping??
Anastasia Havryuk (AH): We - Anastasia and Alexander Khavryuk. Our family apiary already exists around 20 years, in the status of a peasant farm only 5 years.
Over the years, the apiary has a different number of bee colonies, within 100. We make honey, pollen, perga (bee bread is bee bread preserved by the enzyme composition, folded and rammed by honeycombs, past lactic fermentation, during which pollen grains germinate and turn into bee bread) and other bee products, make mixes with honey and cream honey with berries, herbs, spices.
As part of the services of the agro-eco-homestead, we offer a "dream on bees" in the api house, which helps to relax, relieve fatigue, relax and generally improve a person’s condition. In these houses "bee-beds" are equipped. After undergoing several procedures of "bee therapy", you can get rid of depression, stress.
We also make souvenir products - candles made from natural beeswax and honey soap with useful components, we make gift sets from our products. Restoring traditional honey recipes, we can taste nutritious honey. Besides, the farm has goats and hens, products from which we use ourselves, and we sell surpluses.
TG: Anastasia why did you decide to farm?
AH: At first they wanted to provide the family with “pure” natural products, when the "overproduction" began, understood, what surplus we can sell, and such products are in demand.
TG: Do you need any support as a farmer today??
AH: We need financial support. We want to expand our apiary. To do this, we need to purchase modern equipment.
TG: What are your plans for the future?
AH: We plan to increase the apiary: number of bee colonies, improve product range.
TG: What would you recommend to novice farmers? What would you like to warn those, who is only at the beginning of the journey?
AH: You need to start with a small area and see, what will come of it, be sure to study the "materiel", the theory, before starting.
