The local economy (TG): tell us about yourself, about your personal farm. Why did you decide to do this business??
Olga Shevchuk (OSH): My name is Olga Shevchuk. I have a personal subsidiary farm "Shevchuk". AT 2012 year decided to get rabbits, for rabbit meat, to feed their children.
We bought the most ordinary rabbits on the market, raised. Farther, I became interested in rabbit breeding: rocks, conditions of their detention, feeding. The more I learned about rabbit breeds, the more I wanted to make myself. So I got rabbits of such a breed as “New Zealand White”, Vienna Blue, "French sheep" and "Rex".
TG: Olga, in our country we have a whole association of rabbit breeders and owners of private household plots, which includes people, loving this thing, and who enthusiastically deal with it? Do you know about such a community?
OSH: Yes, of course I know. WITH 2015 years I am a member of this association. Thanks to this association, I met people close in spirit, we support each other, and it costs a lot.
TG: Olga, You are a man in love with rabbit breeding. Do you find your job difficult?
OSH: Uneasy, but interesting. Everyone has mistakes - this, I consider, fine, this is experience.
I grow rabbits, mostly for own consumption, I sell surplus meat. But it was always a pity to throw rabbit skins, and the idea came up how to use them. So I went into rabbit fur products, but not stitched, and knitted. I knitted hats first, mittens, scarves for your family members, trained and gained experience.
Then the question arose of how to realize our unique products.. She became interested in and participating in craft fairs..
TG: You take part in exhibitions?
OSH: Annually, I take part in the exhibition-fair "Tuteyshaya Gaspadarka", "Magic Mill", BELAGRO, as well as in specialized fairs. Took part in the international fair in Vilnius (Lithuania), Mr. Dobele (Latvia).
I try to take part in knitting master classes, as I consider, what you need to learn and develop. I have a lot of interesting ideas., and I will strive to implement them.
TG: Olga, what would you recommend to novice farmers?
OSH: I would like to wish everyone, who wants to try himself in agriculture - set a goal and go to it. Do not be afraid to experiment, and you will succeed and wish you all good luck!
